Facebook is beginning to remove it's chat function from it's mobile app in an attempt to boost downloads of it's Facebook Messenger app. This is an obvious step in the right direction. No longer will users who have both apps installed on their device receive notifications from both apps when a new message comes through. Yes, the user could go into the setting of one of the apps to disable its notifications, but in this modern digital world, ease of use and convenience is key. Not only will it boost it's company's downloads in all mobile marketplaces (Google Play, IOS Appstore, Windows, Amazon Appstore, and more), but it will allow more advertising opportunities and further targeted ads as advertisers will be able to display ads on either the messaging or browsing app.
